There are people fishing from the pier so rather than swing out wide I check for lines off the side and cut through close to shore. An elderly man is fishing on shore so I head back out to avoid his line, which he is reeling in. As I pass in front of him he cusses me and then tosses out his line, the weights falling about 25 feet away and an even distance from shore as my kayak. I guess he couldn't wait 30 seconds for me to finish moving through the area. For a moment I think about going to shore and 'discussing' his anger, but knowing my temper decide it best I ignore him.
Kayak fishing information and accessory resource also including guide services, photos, message board, forums, equipment, product reviews, tackle tips, rigged kayaks, recipes, kayak anglers, fish reports & more.
I often lingered over the Folbot advertisements in Popular Mechanics offering marvelous folding kayaks that could be had at attractive prices - prices that were still unfortunately beyond the means of an 8 year old. Six years later, while on a canoe trip to Isle Royale, I met up with a fellow carrying a pair of tweedy canvas duffle bags out of which he assembled an elegant Klepper folding kayak. I watched him paddle off on a week's wilderness trip, thinking I'd like to do the same one day.
The Kayak Place isn't a commercial website. I'm not here to sell you boats or gear or outfitting in some exotic location, or to annoy you with popups and banners. Think of the Kayak Place as a virtual garage just up the street, filled with more kayaks than the wife thinks is reasonable, and a rusty old kayak hauling minivan named Smoky Joe. There are a few chairs that have been picked off the street before the garbage truck got to them, a battered old coffee pot, and a computer over in the corner.
