Urban Agriculture and Forestry
At a time of increasing urbanisation, growing urban poverty and food insecurity, and a subsequent deterioration of the quality of the urban environment, it has become urgent to adequately inform national and local policy makers and other local stakeholders on the potentials and pitfalls of urban agriculture. A major constraint in the development of urban agriculture, is that there are no information services available, in the vast majority of the developing countries, to inform adequately city authorities, urban planners, farmers, consumers, NGOs, technical support organisations and other stakeholders.
