Through the Internet, Furniture.com made it possible for consumers to shop at any hour and from the comfort of home. Offering great selection, powerful search tools, and personalized design advice, online furniture retailing was an idea that customers embraced. After just two years, Furniture.com was selling an annualized $80 million in furniture online, and had grown to be the 67th largest furniture retailer in the U.S. But this rapid growth came at a price, and as the economic climate changed, the company closed its doors in November 2000.
